Project: Tunnel Shaft Location Survey

Brief: An underground tunnel was being constructed underneath the streets of London, and a shaft down to the route of this tunnel was necessary to be excavated.

Solution: Prior to the proposed excavation of an access shaft to the underground tunnel, Clear Route was requested to map a junction in Central London for the location of all existing buried services. A combination of all available methods, electromagnetic and ground probing radar, was used to locate and map the complex pattern of this underground plant. These results were then mapped usng Leica Total Station, and drawings in both 2D and 3D were produced.

Due to the nature of the project, in addition to the utilities present, any underground structures present within the survey area had to be located, and included within the survey and subsequent findings.
